Why does the job exist?The purpose of the office clerk position is to provide administrative assistance to the New Mexico Department of Transportation Maintenance Section by preparing reports, creating, maintaining and tracking documentation related to District 6 maintenance operations and bridge inspection, and performing other clerical duties as assigned.
How does it get done?Perform administrative duties for the Assistance District Engineer in Maintenance.
This position will maintain records; verify statistical reports for accuracy and completeness; perform highly specialized clerical work including filing, typing, data entry, word processing, and other computer software applications.
Answer all incoming calls, relay messages, correspondence, emails, schedule meetings for the Assistant District Engineer for Maintenance.
Review, track and process District 6 accident reports to ensure that all damage cost reports are compiled and entered into OIG's Damage Claim System.
Manage and update bridge inspection data base to ensure that all inspection and maintenance request forms have been reviewed and signed by the ADE.
Assist maintenance management analyst in inputting and pulling information from the MMS.
Working with the Patrol/Special Crews to provide support and distribute and process documentation as needed.

Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products;- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records;- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service; and- Database knowledge.
Minimum QualificationHigh School diploma or Equivalent and three (3) months experience in office administration and/or customer service.

Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Business reference check and driver's license verification are required, and employment is conditional pending results.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office setting with some travel required.
Sitting for extended periods of time utilizing a computer.
Work extended hours and under pressure to meet deadlines; interact with co-workers.
Lift up to 25 lbs.
